Ode to Soul

Let's just dig a big hole and live in it
In the sand?
Under the house
But there's worms
We'll be like the worms
Worms don't have blankets
Oh ok, you can be a snail.

The Light

"- to remain undistracted. Undistracted by the memory of past sins, by imagined pleasure, by the bitter aftertaste of old wrongs and humiliations, by all the fears and hates and cravings that ordinarily eclipse the light".
The Doors of Perception, Aldous Huxley.

Dreamy

"These are the sorts of things one ought to look at. Things without pretensions, satisfied to be merely themselves, sufficient in their Suchness, not acting a part, not trying, insanely, to go it alone, in isolation from the Dharma Body."

"When we feel ourselves to be sole heirs of the universe, when the sea flows in our veins...and the stars are our jewels', when all things are perceived as innocent and holy, what motive can we have for covetousness or self assertion, the pursuit of power or the drearier forms of pleasure?"

Belle Friends

"That's what I like about you Belle. A man needn't be in love with you to enjoy you. You can be a friend...Let's make a pact of friendship, Belle. I know that in asking for your friendship I am probably asking for more than other men who will ask for your love, but in return you can ask more of me than of those men".
Belle out of Order.

We are the new commune

What is this crazy world we are living in where everyone is connected via three degrees of separation? Is it representational of the interrelation between all things or is it something more specific to a time and a place? A city and an age bracket? If it is the latter - can we survive it, peacefully? Can we all drop our egos, petty jealousies and selfish preoccupations long enough to recognize the humanity in each other and live with laughter at the beautifully incestuous nature of this world we have created?

And why have we created it? Did we all subconsciously feel the need to be more connected to one another? To form a community of sorts...To bridge the gaps between us?...

Is this the modern version of the courtesan?

Sharing love and kindness. Allowing a lover to be true to themselves. To bring out the best in them. All of them. Without demanding anything. Due to self reliance and internal self satisfaction. Not playing by pre-established rules. An unrestricted ability to love. An understanding of the transient nature of all things. With universal trust and so without material fear. Living and loving with peace and an open heart.

On Reaching Nirvana

Easter is my favorite holiday cos it means getting presents you always want. Plus Russian babes. New mates. New music. New movies. New conversations. New flowers (violets). New travel dreams (bali, japan, hawaii, big sur commune retreat). Sleep ins. Late late nights. Beach rollies. Red lipstick cures hangover. Malibu smelling hair does not. Polaroid analysis at 4am. Beautiful women speaking French in my house and a white boy singing Wu-Tang in my bed.

Self

“Because we don't expect to overthrow governments, abolish world capitalism, make civilization vanish, turn everyone in the world into walking Buddhas, or cure all social and economic ills, we don't have to wait for anything. If ten people walk beyond civilization and build a new sort of life for themselves, then those ten are already living in the next paradigm, from the first day. They don't need the support of an organization. They don't need to belong to a party or a movement. They don't need new laws to be passed. They don't need a constitution. They don't need tax-exempt status. For those ten, the revolution will have already succeeded.”

— Daniel Quinn, Beyond Civilization
