Leandro Erlich blew my mind

I originally was just intending to post this -

But then I got stuck in a place of confusion and awe at the rest of the art Leandro creates. Amazing.

Under the Covers

Today, with bed being the only reasonable place to be (on account of lack of heater in household), this is the most perfect thing and rides the wave of my music related posts of late.
The Morning Benders cover Fleetwood Mac, Randy Newman, The Cardigans and Talking Heads to name a few. You can score the whole album for free too. So get on it.

The ultimate flirtation

Sad prairie folk music

Sharon Van Etten makes "bittersweet neofolk so slow, spare and subtle that you might have to crane your neck to hear it..."
I listen to music (among other things e.g. the leaking shower head) while I should be sleeping. Then I try not to post it here but some slip through.

A different translation.

4am and you're going for a run. a man drives past. a man you know. he sees it as a sign. "Get in" he says.
The run is a part of the woman's life. she is enjoying it. the man expects the woman to want to get in. after all, she likes him, and they have run into each other at 4am. it's serendipity. isn't it?

A lot of women would get in the car.

Mount Carmel

Taking the same slice of rock n' roll pie as the Black Keys, Mount Carmel's three members (twin brothers and young buck on drums) feast on raw music goodness.
Described by others as sounding "like a hi-fi Disraeli Gears or a modern Stonedhenge."
Self described as "blues".
Described by me as delicious.
I suggest you have a taste.

It was a pleasure then

"I can't respond in the old way... it's you know fake... with people that you like for good reasons but not the most important reasons." - Nico

(I know you don't care for her much Mophead but I still like her and these stills.)

I am from the future

My friend once sent me a happy birthday from the future, or so he thought. Turns out he was just being foolish about world time zones and in fact sent it in the then present, which is now the past.

Short film by Ray Tintori.

Baby you can drive my car.

Asked a girl what she wanted to be
She said baby, can't you see
I wanna be famous, a star of the screen
But you can do something in between.

All I want today

Time

Lacking it
Tracking it
Stopping it
Making it
Being on it
Going back in it
Losing sense of it

Stupid fucking time.

Its relation to space is a whole other matter...

Fast as a Flash

... but never quite fast enough.

black label black magic

Animal Kingdom

Posters by Jeremy Saunders.
I think I like the original (top), rush job, poster (according to Saunders' talk at Semi Permanent this year) probably more than the final one. The second one tends to remind me of The Sopranos, not that that's a bad thing, I actually really liked their DVD covers. It probably makes a whole lot of sense too, but since when did that make a difference?
Either way I'm looking forward to seeing the film.

Well balls to you

The thing is this is actually your life. Not the same for me.
How bleak it must be.

Lovers through doom

You will carry gold glitter on your face.

How do you do, you do, you do, you do.

I have just rediscovered a book I own of Beatles photographs. These aren't from it, but I like them all the same.

"In Brisbane the Beatles were pelted with eggs by male fans, perhaps jealous of the distraction the fab four were causing amongst their girlfriends. 'In our country we usually have eggs for breakfast.' Ringo said. One of the egg throwing ringleaders commented, 'We just wanted to see if they could take it.'
'Of course we could take it, but I like mine scrambled on toast. The other three like theirs fried - right, George?' replied Ringo."

Might post actual pictures from the book later.

To jump eighteen feet

"All living things contain a measure of madness that moves them in strange, sometimes inexplicable ways. This madness can be saving; it is part and parcel of the ability to adapt. Without it, no species would survive." - Yann Martel

Leavin' on a Jetplane

On Melbourne:
Mophead: I dont need to become loud and obnoxious just happy and gently swaying
Poppit: Yea free loving and what not.

Off to spend 3 days sitting in cafes (licensed) reading books and magazines and staying warm. Perhaps dancing in some alleys. And summing it up with a great performance at The Australian Burlesque Fest. Thats it. Thats all I want. That and maybe a lover.

Thimbles are underrated

"Learning new skills doesnt suit you, you will continually waste your time perfecting things you are naturally completely hopeless at. Give up now or forever withhold your frustration." - Wise words from someone who knows.

Limbo

This place aint what it used to be. I think Iggy and the Stooges say it best.
